Ingredients

Smoked Chex Mix

  • 1 c Rice Chex
  • 1 c Corn Chex
  • 1 c Wheat Chex
  • 1 c pretzel sticks
  • 1 c mini pretzels
  • 1 c mixed nuts
  • 1 c oyster crackers
  • 1 c bite-sized bagel chips and/or rye chips (both are best)
  • 1 c Cheez-It crackers

Bourbon Butter

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 T Frank's Red Hot
  • 1 T coconut aminos
  • 2 T Heath Riles Honey Rub
  • 1 T top-shelf bourbon

Instructions

  • Add all of the snacks into a large foil pan.
  • Melt the butter in a medium-sized pan and add hot sauce, aminos, bourbon and rub. Stir mix well until blended and smooth.
  • Drizzle spicy butter over the dry mix and fold well to coat evenly. Don't break the dry mix by mixing too hard.
  • Setup your smoker at 190 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Place the pan of spicy Chex mix into the smoker and close the lid.
  • Gently fold the mix every 20 minutes.
  • Smoke the snack mix for about an hour when the crackers and Chex pieces become crispy.
  • Remove the pan from the smoker and bring into the house to cool down for 20 minutes.
  • After cooling, serve the spicy snack mix right away.

Notes

TIP: When storing, allow the mix to cool completely before storing them in plastic bags or vacuum packs.
