Beach Cocktails will make you scream Cowabunga

If beaches are in your future, so are beach cocktails.

After packing up and heading to the nearest beach during your summer challenge, be sure to take along a Beach Cocktails List. It will give you all the flavor you’ll need to stay happy in the sand.

Beach Cocktails

Beach Bartender

Mai Tai

  • 1 1/3 ounces white rum
  • 1/2 ounce orange curaçao
  • 1/3 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce orgeat syrup
  • 2/3 ounce dark rum
  • Garnish: pineapple wedge
  1. Add the white rum, curaçao, lime juice and orgeat into a shaker with crushed ice and shake lightly (about 3 seconds).
  2. Pour into a double rocks glass.
  3. Float the dark rum over the top.
  4. Garnish with a lime wheel and mint sprig.

Pina Colada

  • 1 ounce white rum
  • 1 ounce cream of coconut
  • 3 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed*
  • Garnish: pineapple wedge
  1. Add the rum, cream of coconut and pineapple and lime juices to a shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds.
  2. Strain into a chilled Hurricane glass over pebble ice.
  3. Garnish with a pineapple wedge.

Paloma

  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • Grapefruit soda, chilled, to top
  • Garnish: lime wheel
  1. Add the tequila and lime juice to the glass, and fill with ice.
  2. Top with grapefruit soda, and stir briefly and gently to combine.
  3. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Paradise

  • 1 1/6 ounces dry gin
  • 2/3 ounce apricot brandy
  • 1/2 ounce orange juice
  1. Layer orange juice, brandy and gin in chilled cocktail glass. Serve immediately.

Strawberry Daiquiri

  • 1 1/4 ounces rum
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 5 large strawberries
  • 1 cup ice
  1. Combine the rum, rich simple syrup, lime juice, strawberries and ice in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into a hurricane style glass or wine glass.

Sea Breeze

  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  • 4 1/2 ounces cranberry juice
  • 1 ounce grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed
  1. Add the vodka, cranberry juice and grapefruit juice into a highball glass with ice and stir.

Single Sangria

  • 3 ounces red wine
  • 3/4 ounce cognac
  • 1/2 ounce fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • lemon-lime soda
  1. Add wine, cognac, and citrus juices to shaker.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Top with lemon-lime soda.

Caribbean Rum Punch

  • 1 3/4 ounces dark rum
  • 1/4 ounce coconut juice
  • 2 1/2 ounces pineapple juice
  • 2 1/2 ounces orange juice
  • 1/4 ounce lime juice
  • Add rum, coconut, pineapple, orange and lime juices into a shaker with ice, and shake until well-chilled.
  • Strain into a highball glass over fresh ice.

Mojito

  • 6 mint leaves
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 1 1/3 ounces white rum
  • 1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • Club soda, to top
  1. Lightly muddle the mint with the sugar in a shaker.
  2. Add the rum, lime juice and ice, and give it a brief shake, then strain into a highball glass over fresh ice.
  3. Top with the club soda.
  4. Garnish with a mint sprig and lime wheel.
